Generative AI and creator livelihoods
In December 2024, CISAC published a global economic study (with PMP Strategy) on generative AI in music and audiovisual. Under current conditions, the report finds that about twenty-four percent of music creators' revenues could be at risk by 2028—a cumulative loss on the order of €10 billion over five years—while generative AI music services are projected to reach roughly €4 billion in annual revenue by that year, much of it tied to unlicensed use of creators' works.

How people listen
IFPI's Engaging with Music research tracks listening habits across large international surveys. Recent editions show most weekly listening time spent on audio and video streaming platforms, with subscription and ad-supported services at the center of how recorded music reaches ears. IFPI's Global Music Report likewise shows streaming as the majority of global recorded-music revenue.
